CANTALA WOMEN'S ENSEMBLE
Do you have an insatiable passion for
singing?
Do you have a deep love of choral music and value the
enhanced quality of life that singing brings?
Do you want to meet new singers who share these interests?
The Cantala Women's Ensemble (SSAA) is a group (20 singers) of both emerging professional singers and musicians, and amateurs who love to sing choral literature.
The singers of Cantala have a strong desire to create and
share music with others through singing. They have a long love of choral
music and value the quality of life that singing brings to their lives.
The Cantala Women's Ensemble rehearses every Monday
evening, from 7-9pm at Forest Hill United Church (located at Eglinton and
Bathurst), from September until Early May.
There are four performances per season (Oct, Dec, Feb and
May).
Repertoire selections are selected from the Baroque to the 21th Century. Performed works may include Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, Rutter's Dancing Day, acapella works from Eleanor Daley, Stephen Hatfield and Imant Raminsh, world music's of Hungarian and South American roots (among others), and Bach Cantata's, selections from Oratorio's and acapella mixed repertoire (collaboration with the Cantala Chamber
Ensemble*).
*The Cantala Chamber Ensemble (SATB) is a project-based choir within the Women's Ensemble, performing two projects per year.
